Thermodynamics of Evolutionary Games

چکیده
How cooperation can evolve between players is an unsolved problem of biology. Here we use Hamiltonian dynamics of models of the Ising type to describe populations of cooperating and defecting players to show that the equilibrium fraction of cooperators is given by the expectation value of a thermal observable akin to a magnetization. We apply the formalism to the Public Goods game with three players, and show that a phase transition between cooperation and defection occurs that is equivalent to a transition in one-dimensional Ising crystals with long-range interactions. We also investigate the effect of punishment on cooperation and find that punishment acts like a magnetic field that leads to an “alignment” between players, thus encouraging cooperation. We suggest that a thermal Hamiltonian picture of the evolution of cooperation can generate other insights about the dynamics of evolving groups by mining the rich literature of critical dynamics in low-dimensional spin systems. 1 ar X iv :1 70 6. 03 05 8v 1 [ qbi o. Teaching students with sensory disabilities have always been of interest to scholars and educational experts. One of the sensory disabilities is blindness. It should be noted that traditional methods of training these individuals do not have the necessary efficiency and it causes the reduction of motivation in the students. Thus, an evolutionary approach is necessary. Most computer games as i...
متن کاملInvestigation of Game Between Cells in Occurrence of Genetic Mutations Using Evolutionary Game Theory
In this paper, two games that play a role in creating a cancer tumor and suppression are studied using evolutionary game theory and its different modes are analyzed. The first game is the competition between a cancer cell and a healthy cell to receive food through the blood. In the second game, the interaction between the two oncogenes Ras and Myc is examined for cellular deformation

Abstract Connecting to rule-makers in order to set favorable rules (lobbying) or paying government executives to bend the current rule (bribing) are the two main strategies for influencing government. This study in an evolutionary game model explain why bribing may become widespread while other states like compliance and cooperative lobbying are Pareto superior. The theoretical model is used ...
متن کاملEmergence of Cooperation in the thermodynamic limit
Predicting how cooperative behavior arises in the thermodynamic limit is one of the outstanding problems in evolutionary game theory. For two player games, cooperation is seldom the Nash equilibrium. However, in the thermodynamic limit cooperation is the natural recourse regardless of whether we are dealing with humans or animals. In this work we use the analogy with the Ising model to predict ...
متن کاملBridging scales with generating functions, and the large-deviations analysis of stochastic evolutionary game theory
We review the problem of quantitative prediction of multiscale dynamical phenomena, for stochastic evolutionary games classified according to their symmetry. We first introduce a “maximumignorance” approach to identifying the many undetermined parameters of a stochastic process if only some coarse representation of the symmetries, such as the first-moment conditions, are known reliably. We then...
